Dear World Poet,
As President of 21st
world congress of poets, I cordially invite you to our congress to be held in
Managua, Nicaragua July 16 – 20, 2009 where you will have the opportunity to
read your poetry to an international audience and enjoy the flavor of my country.
I will be pleased to have you attend this
prestigious international poetry event.
Briefly
here are a few reminders/suggestions in preparing for your travel:
1.
Send your registration to myself as soon as
possible.
2. Make your own
airplane and hotel reservations.
3. Send your membership information and dues to
Benjamin Yuzon or
Judy Hardin Cheung
(see addresses on registration form).
4. Send your anthology
poem + $20 and your 10-line bio to
Carlos Gutierrez (see address on registration form).
5. Be sure passport or
any other necessary traveling documents are in order for traveling to
Nicaragua.
6. Suggestion:
Check with your health provider about visiting a tropical country
specifically during this time of the year.
We look forward to seeing your honorable
participation and having the privilege of meeting you at the congress.

POETRY CONTEST 2009
TO: UPLI POETS AND OTHERS. You have expressed enjoyment and
appreciation for the past two series of the UPLI Poetry Contests. Therefore, today, we are passing out to you
the third series of contests. Please
help us distribute this to your friends, other organizations, and encourage
everyone you can to enter. DEADLINE
DATE: RECEIVED BY JUNE 1, 2009.
Rules and guidelines for the UPLI Poetry Contest-, (Please distribute copies to your poet friends)
1. DEADLINE: Entries must be
received by June 1, 2009, Write
“UPLI Contest” on envelope.
2. All entries must be the work of the contestant. KEEP COPIES – NO ENTRIES WILL BE RETURNED.
3. Entry FEES: $5.00 PER
POEM ENTERED. No limit on the number
of entries.
4. No individual poem may be entered in more than one category. LINE LIMIT:
Specified in each category.
5. OPEN CONTEST: Anyone may enter any of the contest categories.
6. Send two copies of each poem.
Put category name and # in the upper left corner of each page. On the second
copy, put your name in the upper right corner of the
page.
7. FORMAT: Entries must be typed on one side only of
white 8 1/2x 11 paper in English only.
8. Decisions of Judges will be final.
9. Winners will be notified.
Send SASE FOR COPY OF THE WINNER’S LIST.
10. NET PROCEEDS WILL GO TO
UPLI.
11. Make checks payable to UPLI Contest.

12. International money
orders must include a $10 collection fee, which is charged by US banks.
